Thread: Star Wars

  1. Star Wars

Call me crazy, but I was watching "The Empire Strikes Back" on the telly the other nite, and I couldn't help but feel that the prequels have added a lot of character depth for the characters in the later movies. Darth Vader's internal struggle is more evident, you see Yoda in a new light after seeing what he was like as a great Jedi, stuff like that. The prequels did have some awful bits, but I have to say I think they were a success in terms of being part of the series.

  2. I was in grade 3 when "The Phantom Menace" came out and I loved the prequels but now I like the the original trilogy. I still hate Hayden Christensen's acting...if I was George Lucas I would have cast Nick Stahl. I'm looking forward to the live-action television series though.

  3. i think lucas is to stubborn & in love with what he did w/ the original trilogy to have been able to make the prequels actually worth watching.

i cant imagine anyone really carrying about the prequels if they weren't "star wars".
its the nostalgia of wanting more of "star wars" & "empire strikes back" that made us all shit ourselves @ the thought of finally seeing the clones wars (which was a bust) but we were given something much less instead.

i think the prequels made darth vader a pussy. anakin was such a baby in episode 1 & 2.

i just dont see darth vader in him & i dont see the big baby in darth vader.

lucas should've let others write & direct the prequels & he should've produced them just like he did with empire strikes back (which is arguably the best of all the star wars movies).

  4. the prequels helped me, a tiny bit, to better understand the plot of the original 3 (and all their references to past events) since I never read any of the books. The prequels weren't essential though. Really, all we needed were the original 3.
Then he said to them all: "If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me." Jesus

  5. The prequels were pretty much terrible. I agree w/ Herb in that if they didn't have the Star Wars name on them, no one would have given them a second thought.

What can I say? Well the truth is just what it simply is.
